- The company that assesses mold for a project cannot remediate that same property within 12 months.
- The company that remediates a property cannot be the one that assessed it.
- This applies even to companies with shared ownership: the two roles must be genuinely independent, not just separately named.

Over 10 sq ft, an independent assessor
For more than 10 sq ft, the Florida Department of Health requires that a "pure play" mold inspection company, one that never remediates, conduct the initial inspection.
